Bollywood's Top Guys at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA)
With Bollywood’s best arriving in Toronto this week for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), there are a few key style icons to keep an eye on this week. Here’s are three of the top Bollywood actors and nominees for Best Leading Role.
Hrithik Roshan Hrithik made his film debut in the leading role in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, where he earned his first Filmfare Awards (IIFA 2001) for Best Actor and Best Male Debut. He’s well received by critics, partly for his preference to star in unconventional roles, such as the mental disabled (Koi Mil Gaya) political radicals (Fiza, Mission Kashmir), alien superhero (Krrish) and a quadrapalegic magician (Guzaarish). He also dresses well and is extremely fit – Ryan Reynolds like. But with the acting skill of Christian Bale. → Hrithik is up for Best Leading Role in the IIFA 2011 for Guzaarish. |
Shah Rukh Khan Undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures at IIFA and in Bollywood, Shah Rukh is an international superstar who’s talent ranges from acting to film production and TV hosting. Debuting in 1992 in the film Deewana, he’s already taken home 15 Filmfare Awards in his successful career. His transition of style from his early career in the 90’s to now has been flawless, and he’s been credited for being one of the most stylish in Bollywood. In terms of style, if there were such a thing as an Indian Kanye, he’d be it. → Shah Rukh plays lead role in My Name is Khan. |
Ajay Devgan Actor, director, and producer Ajay Devgan is said to be have personality traits that are “silent, intense, brooding, deadly and emotional confused” – all of which allow him to play complex alpha male roles. His gritty portrayals of street-wise characters like Omi in Omkara and Malik-Bhai in Company have immortalized him as a face of everyday India and at the forefront of top male actors in India. Think of a young Al Pacino, but his style and attitude a bit closer to Matthew McConaughey. → Ajay is nominated for Best Leading Male for Once Upon a Time in Mumbai |
